First Aid for Parents and Carers

This course will be held on Wednesday 5th November from 2pm to 4.30pm and is aimed at parents (or carers) with children under one, and expectant mothers.

This scheme is run by final year medical students who have been trained to teach infant first aid by the Royal Life Saving Society.

The aim is to give parents the confidence and knowledge required to deal with emergency situations that may arise.

All necessary equipment and handouts will be provided and the course will accommodate time needed to attend to babies during the course.

At the Centre from 2.00 - 4.30pm.

Country and Western Evening

Preparations are well under way for a Country and Western Night at the Centre on Friday 14th November at 7.30pm.

We have a pianist / singer; there’ll be songsheets to sing along should you wish; there will be a quiz (with a prize for the winner); line dancing and lots of food and drink.

A welcome drink - a beer or glass of sarsaparilla perhaps, will be provided free of charge.

Bangers, mash and beans will be on the menu, with apple pie to follow.

Costumes optional, but there will be a prize for best dressed person.

The cost is £5 for members, £7 for non-members, so mosey on down, leave your horse and guns outside and join in the fun.

Computer Troubleshooting for Beginners

If you're new to e-mail, the internet or word processing
we are starting a drop-in troubleshooting workshop here at the Centre every Monday, starting on 17th November, from 12.30pm to 2pm, with practical help and advice.

Mick will be running the sessions and will be happy to try and help with your problems.

There's no need to book - just drop in.

If any computer-savvy people out there would like to help support support Mick, he’d be glad of the company.

Afternoon Talks Programme

John Cameron-Nixon, (a member of PHCA), will talk about Saint Andrew, Scotland's Patron Saint, in his historical and contemporary context.

The talk starts at 2.30pm at the Centre and is free of charge. All are welcome.

The talk will be followed by tea and biscuits.

Evening Talks Programme

Our series of evening talks with the theme ‘Camden Then and Now’ continues with Tudor Allen discussing ‘Camden's Italian Quarter’.

Tudor, author of 'Little Italy', will talk about the vibrant Italian colony that gathered in Camden in the 19th century.

Verusca Calabria will describe the role and significance of oral history to the Italian community.

7pm for 7.30pm at the Centre. Admission £4 (£3 members) to include a glass of wine or a soft drink.

There will be no talk in January, but the series will
continue on Tuesday 3rd February 2009.

Christmas Bazaar

Our annual Christmas Bazaar will take place on Saturday 6th December from 10am to 1pm.

It promises to be a fun day aimed at families - there will be stalls, Santa Claus will be visiting, and we willl have
mince pies and mulled wine of course.

Look out for the posters around Primrose Hill nearer the time for more details.

We are looking for volunteers to help on the day, and for good quality items to sell on the stalls.

Annual Christmas Show

This year's pensioners' show will be Cinderella, starring Britt Ekland, at the Shaw Theatre.

Afterwards there will be a special Christmas tea at the Centre.

The cost is £10 for members, £13 for non-members, to include entrance, transport, food and mulled wine back at the Centre.

Places are limited so we will allocate tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.

This outing will replace the afternoon talk.
